REPENTANCE (Free One From Captivity)

Singing hymn: I have known, I am a sinner; O Lord forgive me my sins. Amen.

Our father and creator, Jehovah is your name in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. You had a very good intention when you called on the being that were in heaven to yourself for the creations of MAN. We however appreciate your intention for our creation and we say a very big thank you for making us and giving us eage over other created creatures. Amen. I pray that you will not depart from us rather continue to be with us and better our lives for your name sake in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

This week brethren is a very wonderful one that we are with humility remembering the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ for our sake: It is called the PASSION WEEK. This week is the last week of the forty days of fasting and prayers the entire Christian body as a whole with humility remember the death and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this week will not go without fulfilling purpose in our various lives in Jesus Christ. Amen. The Passion Week is indeed the week of genuine REPENTANCE as we will be studying this week. Amen.

What is REPENTANCE as the defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary? It is the action or process of repenting especially for misdeeds or moral shortcomings. Repenting is therefore to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life. It is not just turning from sin as defined by the dictionary; it is a genuine act of turning away from wrongful act or changing one’s mind positively from wrongful act known as sin. I pray God will help me and you to genuinely run away from our sins and turn a new leaf of better life in Christ Jesus. Amen.

King Hezekiah understood that the misfortune the children of Israel found themselves is as a result of their sins and God deciding to punish them for their wrongful doing towards Him. He therefore wrote a letter to call for a solemn assembly of REPENTANCE so as to get away from them the punishment of sin and libration from captivity. His letter was as quoted:

“Hezekiah's messengers went everywhere in Israel and Judah with the following letter: People of Israel, now that you have survived the invasion of the Assyrian kings, it's time for you to turn back to the LORD God our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob worshiped. If you do this, he will stop being angry. Don't follow the example of your ancestors and your Israelite relatives in the north. They were unfaithful to the LORD, and he punished them horribly. Don't be stubborn like your ancestors. Decide now to obey the LORD our God! Come to Jerusalem and worship him in the temple that will belong to him forever. Then he will stop being angry, and the enemies that have captured your families will show pity and send them back home. The LORD God is kind and merciful, and if you turn back to him, he will no longer turn his back on you.” 2 Chronicles 30:6-9 (CEV)

I don’t know your state of person with Jehovah today friend, turn away from your sin and become better with God through Jesus Christ. Amen. Whatever captivity sin as led you to, this day I pray that you are delivered from such through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. The heart to refuse sin and celebrate genuine REPENTANCE is released for you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Live a victorious life from now friend in the name of Jesus and be free from every captivities of the enemy through the power in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Happy new week and remember it is the Passion Week. Good morning.

Prophet Johnson Oluwagbenga Adeniyi.
